Welcome to my Real Estate Advocate blog. Hopefully you can get whatever questions you have about real estate transactions in Texas answered here.

About Me

My name is David Mayes and I am currently a licensed real estate agent in the State of Texas. I’ve had my license since January 2011.

Let me say right off the bat that my mission is not to sell houses. Selling houses is a by-product of what I do. It is the end result.

My mission is to provide service and value to my clients. I do that by listening and observing.  I do that by answering your questions. I do that by trying to be available to you as much as possible when it’s convenient for you.  And I do that by guiding you carefully and skillfully through the transaction.

About My Broker

My license is held by CB&A, Realtors and my broker is Chance Brown. I love being affiliated with CB&A, Realtors and Chance for a number of reasons which I will get into in one of my posts later.

For now, just know that Chance is passionate about providing an excellent experience for both his clients and his agents.

His mantra is “Do For – Not To”.   And that’s not just an inspirational poster on the wall.  It’s what he believes, its what he lives and it’s what he expects from his agents. It’s why I’ve stayed with him for 3 years now and why I have no reason to go elsewhere.

Why Real Estate?

When I bought my first house, I knew nothing about the process and don’t remember anyone, including my agent, really going out of their way to help or educate me. It was more along the lines of “here’s a great house, you should buy it”.  But when I started looking for my second house, I had a great agent who asked a lot of questions to make sure he understood what I wanted, gave me a lot of information, was patient with me and didn’t pressure me to buy a house. So when I decided I wanted to go into real estate, I wanted to be that guy. I especially wanted to help first time home buyers and give them a better experience than I had when buying my first home.

In short, I want to be a Real Estate Advocate, not a Real Estate Salesman.

Why This Blog?

I decided to start this blog in order to give you a place to go to find answers without having to worry about getting a million emails and texts from someone trying to sell you something. If you decide to subscribe to the blog so you can stay up to date with the latest postings (please do), know that I will not be calling, texting or emailing you about buying a house or using me as your agent. And I will not be giving your information to anyone else. I want this to be a place where you feel safe getting information, asking questions and learning about the ins and outs of buying or selling real estate in Texas. (I’m only licensed in Texas and therefore only qualified to speak about real estate in Texas)

Even if you already have an agent and/or have no plans to buy or sell anytime soon. Fee free to use the resources available to you here.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out. Or feel free to contact me directly. I’m happy to help.
